Step 1
Shut Off Water & Relieve Water System Pressure
-
Turn OFF the main water shutoff valve to the home
-
Open one faucet on the lowest level.
-
Open one faucet on the highest level.
*This begins draining your system
Step 2
Position Template & Mark Pipes
-
Snap the WOLF template onto the copper pipe.
-
Ensure the template sits flat and secure before marking.
-
Using the template, mark the left cut line.
-
Using the template, mark the right cut line.
-
Using the template, mark the center drain location.
-
Remove the template after all marks are made.
Step 3
Install Temporary Drain
-
Install the temporary drain valve at the center mark.
-
Attach tubing to the drain valve.
-
Route the tubing into a bucket.
Step 4
Fully Drain Pipe
-
Install the temporary drain valve at the center mark.
-
Attach tubing to the drain valve.
-
Route the tubing into a bucket.
Step 5
Cut Pipe
-
Using the pipe cutter, cut the pipe at the left marked line.
-
Using the pipe cutter, cut the pipe at the right marked line.
-
Remove the center section of pipe.
-
Ensure both cuts are straight and clean.
Important: Wear gloves when handling cut pipe to avoid injury from sharp edges.
Step 6
Prepare Pipe (Critical)
-
Deburr both pipe ends.
-
Remove sharp edges from the inside and outside of both pipe ends.
-
Wipe both pipe ends clean with a towel or rag.
-
Remove copper shavings, debris, and moisture from both pipe ends.
-
Clean the pipe ends until the copper is shiny.
Important: Proper pipe preparation is required before inserting the valve assembly and couplings.
Step 7
Insert Valve Assembly & Slide Couplings

Insert the WOLF valve assembly between the two pipe ends.
-
Ensure the valve assembly is facing the correct direction.
-
Ensure the valve is positioned straight before moving the couplings.
-
Slide the left coupling over the left pipe end and onto the valve stub.
-
Slide the right coupling over the right pipe end and onto the valve stub.
-
Move both couplings until the pipe is fully inserted to the indicator lines.
Step 8
Verify Alignment (Critical)
-
Check that the valve is upright.
-
Check that the flow direction is correct.
-
Check that both couplings are fully seated to the indicator lines.
-
Check that the pipe and valve assembly remain straight.
Important: Do NOT press the fittings if alignment is incorrect or if the indicator lines are not fully covered.
Step 9
Press Fittings
-
Using the ProPress or compatible press tool, press the left fitting.
-
Using the ProPress or compatible press tool, press the right fitting.
-
After pressing, mark each fitting with an 'X' to confirm it has been pressed.
Step 10
Restore Water & Check Leak
-
Slowly turn the main water supply back on.
-
Inspect both press connections carefully.
-
Inspect the valve assembly carefully.
-
If all connections remain dry, installation is complete.
Step 11
Attach & Power Resideo Device
-
Plug in and complete setup of the smart valve device, if applicable.
Important: The Temporary drain section is removed during installation and does not remain in the final system
